 Musical Fanfare Opens the 2018 Spring Festival
Chamber Spotlight features local musicians & joyous music 
JACKSON, WY.  Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir’s second Spring Music Festival kicks-off Tuesday, May 1st with a fantastically loud, energetic, and celebratory performance by the Jackson Hole Brass Quintet, organist Ron Fabry, and the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra String Trio at St. John’s Episcopal Church.  Concert begins at 7:30 pm and is free. St. John’s will come alive with classical music Tuesday night.  Four additional brass musicians from Idaho will join the Jackson Hole Brass Quintet to perform Antiphonal Brass music by Giovanni Gabrieli. “The music is so bright, energetic, and full-sounding” commented Amanda Flosbach, from the Brass Quintet. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the famous recording of Gabrieli’s Antiphonal Music performed by various combinations of the Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Chicago Brass Ensembles.
The Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra String Trio is performing several movements from Ludwig Van Beethoven’s thematically rich and buoyant Trio in G Major, Opus 9. Organist Ron Fabry joins the performance with solo works, as well as a performance of Strauss’ Solemn Entry for Brass and Organ.
“We’re so delighted to collaborate with local musicians and have them take the Spotlight as we launch the Festival,” mentioned Laura Huckin, Festival Artistic Director.

2018 Spring Festival Schedule Announced
Festival showcases local talent with half a dozen free events 
JACKSON, WY.  Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir’s second Spring Music Festival presents four days of performances, lectures, and open rehearsals, featuring Dan Forrest, an internationally-acclaimed choral composer, educator, and pianist. On May 1st a Chamber Spotlight performance by the Jackson Hole Brass Quintet, organist Ron Fabry, and a string trio from the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra performs works by Gabrielli, Strauss, and Beethoven in a one-hour recital at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
May 2nd there is a lunchtime Artist Talk with composer Dan Forrest in the conference room at the Center for the Arts.  Come and visit with Mr. Forrest in person to hear about his inspiration, his process, why choral music.  Later that afternoon, all are welcome to sit in on the Classical Academy Choir rehearsal at Walk Festival Hall, to observe the children’s choir as they work with Dan Forrest and local musicians to polish their music for the Gala Concert.
May 3rd offers another daytime discussion – “Music & Healing” – with Music Therapist Hilary Camino and Dan Forrest at the Senior Center of Jackson Hole, including a special visit from an all-volunteer Hospice Choir from Pinedale (Sisters of the Heart).  That same evening, all are welcome to observe the final rehearsal of the 70-voice Festival Chorus and Orchestra, with Dan Forrest on piano.

Classical Academy Children’s Choir joins Spring Festival Lineup
Academy Choir brings young voices to Walk Festival Hall

The Classical Academy Choir is comprised of students in grades 3-9. This afterschool choir is an extension of the rich musical program offered at Jackson Hole Classical Academy.  Lisa Landis, Music Director, said, “Our students are honored to perform in Walk Festival Hall with Dan Forrest.” Polly J. Friess, Head of School, added, “This will be an enriching experience for our students to learn directly from a notable composer.”
“The arts are an integral part of the curriculum taught at the Academy,” noted Artistic Director, Laura Huckin.  “Cathedral Voices wants to support this commitment to the performing arts, and encourage these students to keep singing!”  The Academy Choir will have the privilege of meeting and rehearsing with Dan Forrest on May 2nd.

Singers from Sublette County join the 2018 Spring Music Festival
Vocalists from Pinedale to perform with Cathedral Voices
 JACKSON, WY.  Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir’s second Spring Music Festival presents four days of performances, lectures, and open rehearsals in Jackson, featuring Dan Forrest, an internationally-acclaimed choral composer, educator, and pianist. Three Pinedale choirs including the Pinedale Festival Choir, Sisters of the Heart and Voices 8 have been invited to perform in the Spring Festival’s Gala Concert.  Don’t miss a very special event featuring 26 adults and students from Pinedale performing with over 50 Jackson vocalists and visiting composer Dan Forrest at 7pm on May 4 at Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village.  For details, visit www.cathedralvoices.org.
“Pinedale Community Theatre (PCT) actors and Pinedale Community Choir members just can’t stop singing” says Valerie Lee, Managing Director of Pinedale Community Theater and the director/organizer of the Pinedale choirs participating in this year’s event.  “It’s fantastic!” Singers have been rehearsing since early January.
During the Festival’s Gala Concert, each participating choir ensemble will perform a featured set of music. The conclusion of the performance will bring all vocalists to the stage to perform three songs by Dan Forrest. Mr. Forrest—an accomplished pianist—will accompany the combined choirs for the two final selections.

2018 Spring Music Festival Brings Visiting Composer to Jackson
Cathedral Voices presents a week of events with American Composer, Dan Forrest
JACKSON, WY.  Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir’s second Spring Music Festival presents four days of performances, lectures, and open rehearsals in Jackson, May 1-4, 2018. Featuring Dan Forrest, an internationally-acclaimed choral composer, educator, and pianist, this year’s Festival celebrates the process and artistry of music creation. In 2016, Cathedral Voices performed music by Dan Forrest with Distinguished Concerts International at Carnegie Hall and had the privilege of meeting the composer. “Dan is an extraordinary musician and artist,” commented Laura Huckin, Cathedral Voices Artistic Director. “It is a special honor to have him in Jackson, to engage and interact with our community.”  During the Festival week, Mr. Forrest will make classroom visits to local youth and offer public discussions, in addition to performing.
Although he frequently travels the world, Mr. Forrest has never been to Wyoming.  “I’m greatly looking forward to joining Cathedral Voices for this Festival in Jackson Hole,” commented Dan, “making beautiful music in a beautiful place.”

          Cathedral Voices Brings Carols of Joy to Jackson

Annual Holiday Concerts presented at Jackson Hole High School Auditorium

JACKSON, WY.  Cathedral Voices is pleased to present two performances of its annual holiday concert—Carols of Joy—in the Jackson Hole High School Auditorium on December 9th, at 3:00pm and 7:00pm. Carols of Joy features both classic and new, contemporary carols performed by the Cathedral Voices and Treble Voices choirs, with members of the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra.  A special children’s choir performance rounds out this concert of jubilant chamber music.  All are welcome to attend this FREE and family-friendly event.  A $10 donation at the door is encouraged.  For more information, please visit www.cathedralvoices.org.
The Concert program features a few familiar classic tunes (such as Silent Night, Sleigh Ride), but the vast majority are new, contemporary works, including selections composed for choir and celeste, as well as choir and string quartet.  “There is some stunning, new music being composed every year,” comments Laura Huckin.  “Carols of Joy celebrates some brilliant new carols which will certainly become timeless classics in the future.” The concert also brings together a children’s choir comprised of young singers from several local children’s church choirs and Cathedral Voices’ workshop series for young voices.  “We’re delighted to provide young voices the opportunity to share their talents, and to grow and develop their own skills through the art of performance” added Ms. Huckin.  “They are an inspiration to work with.”

Cathedral Voices is proud to announce Teton County’s first-ever Spring Music Festival taking place April 18 – 22, 2017 – a weeklong festival of choral music and music education, that centers around renowned, guest conductor-in-residence, Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe (https://music.usc.edu/jo-michael-scheibe/).  The Spring Festival includes discussions, workshops, and open rehearsals throughout the week, culminating with a gala concert in the Center Theater on April 22nd @ 7:00 p.m. The Jackson Hole High School Concert Choir, Cathedral Voices Chamber Choirs, and the Jackson Hole Chorale, will each take the stage, and conclude the performance as a combined chorus with Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe conducting. A Wonderland of Music

Celebrating the Holidays at Walk Festival Hall

JACKSON, WY. Cathedral Voices brings you their fifth year of holiday concerts at Walk Festival Hall, an annual tradition, featuring Cathedral Voices and Treble Voices Choirs, along with the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Foundation of Jackson Hole, Jackson Hole Brass Quintet, and Sisters of the Heart Choir under the artistic guidance of Director Laura Huckin. A Wonderland of Music takes place on Friday, December 16 @ 7:00 PM and Sunday, December 18 @ 4:00 PM – both concerts performed at Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village. The concerts are FREE, $10 donation suggested.

“These concerts are one of our favorite events of the year,” comments Ms. Huckin. “Partnering with so many local musicians and ensembles allows us to present something really special for our community and visitors.” The concerts are family friendly and will run approximately one-hour and 45 minutes, with an intermission.

As an extension to Sunday’s matinee concert, The Jazz Foundation of Jackson Hole, Cathedral Voices newest partner, will be providing music for people to mingle on the Walk Hall Stage. “We are excited to perform a set of music following the concert, where we hope people will be inspired to dance to our special arrangements and enjoy a happy holiday time,” states Jason Fritts, Band Leader.
