JACKSON, Wyo. — Holiday music returns to the Center Theater this year, with a concert presented by Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir, the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra, and the Jackson Hole Youth Orchestra. The Jackson Hole Brass Quintet will also perform at this one-night event December 18th at 7:30 pm. Concert is free, masks are required.  Attend in person or watch the livestream at cathedralvoices.org.

For over a decade, Cathedral Voices and the Symphony Orchestra have presented countless holiday concerts in Jackson Hole.  The 2020 concert was pre-recorded and presented via livestream due to the Pandemic.  “After a long Covid hiatus, the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra is very grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on one stage with all these talented local musical groups,” commented Mimi Scofield, orchestra founder. “We love ushering in the holiday spirit with fine music and friends.”

The theater doors will be open Saturday, with social distancing encouraged and masks required. The musicians and vocalists have taken extra precautions in their preparations as well – distancing and masking throughout the rehearsal process, and Covid-testing just prior to the performance. “It’s important that everyone feels safe, and can enjoy the performance,” noted conductor Laura Huckin.

A new partner – the Jackson Hole Youth Orchestra – has also joined this festive return to the stage. “MusicLand’s Youth Orchestra is excited to be included in this year’s collaboration of local area musicians for the holiday season,” said Michele Quinn, MusicLand’s Executive Director.

JACKSON, Wyo. — Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir and the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra are spreading joy and holiday cheer online this year, through a virtual winter gala and concert, Harmony for the Holidays. The gala takes place over two nights on December 21 and 22 at 6 pm. Both nights are free and will stream virtually at www.jhcenterforthearts.org.

Harmony for the Holidays is a winter celebration and includes a virtual community Sing-along on December 21 as well as a virtual holiday concert on December 22. Musicians from Cathedral Voices, Jackson Hole Brass Quintet, the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra, and Treble Voices have been carefully preparing music for both events.

For over a decade, Cathedral Voices and the JHSO have presented countless holiday concerts for thousands of audiences.  Instead of canceling the tradition, both music groups agreed to use technology to take the tradition to the worldwide web.  “Cultural activities are incredibly important as we continue to weather the storm of the Corona Virus,” said Cathedral Voices Artistic Director Laura Huckin. “Connection and engagement are essential for everyone’s mental and social well-being. We need joy, we need hope.”

“Even though we are unable to have an in-person audience for the winter gala this year, we are so fortunate that Cathedral Voices and our production staff has been able to adapt to a virtual platform through some exceptional technology. Thank you to Cathedral Voices for giving our community beautiful holiday music during a time when so many of us are isolated,” said Center for the Arts Executive Director Marty Camino.

JACKSON, WY— The clock is ticking for Wyoming’s first-ever virtual choral festival, brought to you by Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir.

The choir’s 3rd biennial Spring Festival debuts online May 16 & 17 at cathedralvoices.org. Singers have rehearsed, recorded, and submitted their videos to be shared with the world next weekend.

The Spring Festival has been transformed into a two-day musical and educational experience that anyone can tune into via the worldwide web. The Festival includes two virtual choir premieres surrounded by inspiring conversations with leaders in the fields of choral music, conducting, vocal performance, and music composition.

“The Spring Festival is traditionally very concert-focused and anchored by a gala event,” said Cathedral Voices Director Laura Huckin. “Instead of canceling, we decided to re-imagine what our choir could offer on a digital platform.”

So Huckin started connecting with colleagues across the country.

“Most conductors and educators are at home, doing digital teaching and remote instruction,” she noted.  “I was thoroughly delighted by everyone’s interest in contributing to our Festival.  Very few Festivals are taking place right now, if at all.”

Conductors and musicians from California, Minnesota, South Carolina, Washington, and Wyoming will be featured virtual participants in the Festival via roundtable discussions and special interviews which will air before each virtual choir premiere.  One virtual choir song will premiere each day of the Festival, with nearly 70 voices from singers primarily across Western Wyoming. The livestream is supported by Jackson’s Center for the Arts

The Spring Festival is supported in part by the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund, a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, Center of Wonder/Town and County Arts for All, and Cathedral Voices’ Business Partners and Season Sponsors.
