JACKSON, WY— Cathedral Voices is hosting a screening of Shining Night: A Portrait of Morten Lauridsen at the Center for the Arts on Saturday, November 2nd from 6-8:30pm.  The screening will be in room 305, in Riot Act’s Studio Space on the third floor.  The screening is free, no tickets required. Visit cathedralvoices.org or jhcenterforthearts.org for more information.

“Cathedral Voices is performing O Magnum Mysterium by Lauridsen in the Center Theater on December 20th, so it seemed fitting to also present this documentary,” commented Laura Huckin, Artistic Director of Cathedral Voices.  “Exploring the life and process of an artist gives us a deeper understanding and appreciation for the visceral impact of his/her creative works.”

Shining Night offers a glimpse into the life and music of one of America’s Iconic composers and National Medal of Arts recipient, Morten Lauridsen.  Exploring the relationship of art, nature, and spirituality, Shining Night reveals the composer through the lens of his love for the natural world together with his passion for music and poetry.

Filmed between 2010-2011 in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Aberdeen, Scotland, and Waldron Island, Shining Night conveys the richness and breadth of the composer’s life, with a soundtrack featuring his masterworks.  Since opening in Palm Springs, California on February 7, 2012, the film is winner of four Best Documentary awards at US Film Festivals, including the DC Independent Film Festival.

Shining Night is the second in a series of interactive events presented this year, funded in part by Center of Wonder/Town and County Arts for All, and the Wyoming Arts Council.
