presenting a vocal retreat at the Center for the Arts this weekend

JACKSON, WY— Cathedral Voices is hosting a vocal retreat with Dr. Nicole Lamartine (University of Wyoming) this weekend, Saturday October 12th from 5-8pm in Dancers’ Workshop Studio 2 at the Center for the Arts.  The Whole Singer will look at the foundations of the voice as an instrument, including physiology and technique. Communication, expression, and empathy will also be explored through movement and singing with Dr. Lamartine.  $25 for adults and $5 for students (15 years and older). Visit cathedralvoices.org for more information and to register online. All are invited to participate!

Dr. Lamartine became Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wyoming in 2008. She conducts the Collegiate Chorale, Singing Statesmen, and teaches conducting and applied voice. As a professional vocal musician, Lamartine has sung as a regular member of the Grammy®-nominated Conspirare, the Colorado Bach Ensemble, and Chor Anno.

“We’re overjoyed to have Dr. Lamartine visiting Teton County this weekend,” Commented Laura Huckin, Artistic Director of Cathedral Voices. “I’ve had the privilege of seeing Lamartine perform and also teach.  Her charisma and passion is infectious. She connects with individuals on a personal level—inspiring their own, unique journey through music.”

The Whole Singer is the first in a series of interactive events presented this season by Cathedral Voices, funded in part by Center of Wonder/Town and County Arts for All, and the Wyoming Arts Council.  Admission is $25 for adults, $5 for students.  Financial aid is available (contact the choir at music@cathedralvoices.org).
