2017 Spring Music Festival Includes Free Events and Workshops for the Community
Cathedral Voices presents a week of music events with Guest Conductor, Dr. Scheibe
JACKSON, WY. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience conducting a choir yourself? Or have you always wanted the opportunity to find out more about music and why we need it in our lives? Or perhaps you would like to observe the process of music creation and performance? Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir is providing a week of FREE events during the Spring Music Festival 2017, April 18 – 22, 2017, featuring Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe, guest conductor-in-residence from University of Southern California. Throughout the week, Cathedral Voices presents free events with Dr. Scheibe, including Open Rehearsals, A Musical Conversation discussion, and The Art of Conducting. On Saturday, April 22nd @ 7:00 p.m. the Spring Music Festival culminates with a GALA CONCERT in the Center Theater where over 75 voices from local choirs (Jackson Hole High School Concert Choir, Jackson Hole Chorale, and Cathedral Voices Chamber Choirs) will join under Dr. Scheibe’s baton to present a massive choral experience. Since January of this year, all choirs have been preparing for this GALA CONCERT. To purchase tickets for the concert, visit www.jhcenterforthearts.org. A reception will follow in the Center lobby where the community will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Scheibe and the choral performers. “I am thrilled to be a part of the Spring Music Festival 2017 as conductor-in-residence. The opportunity to work with these three choral groups provides the musical community time to connect at all singing levels – from youth to adults – and to provide insight into the art form of Choral Music. I look forward to having not only the time with the singers, but more importantly with the community,” comments Dr. Scheibe.
