Best of the Beatles and Broadway
Classic Beatles and Contemporary Broadway grace the Center Theater stage – One night only
JACKSON, WY. Cathedral Voices presents a special, one-night-only performance of The Best of the Beatles and Broadway on Saturday, March 21, 7:30pm in the Center Theater at the Center for the Arts. This unique event featuring live music – Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir and Treble Voices along with over a dozen local musicians – showcases music from contemporary musical theatre alongside some of the Beatles’ most memorable songs. This concert is free. No tickets required; donations greatly appreciated.
“This has been a very exciting project for us,” commented Laura Huckin, Artistic Director and Conductor for Cathedral Voices. “The collection of music in this concert is intentionally eclectic. It showcases Broadway and Beatles favorites, but also introduces less familiar music that is quite stunning!” Huckin adds, “Performing in the Center Theater—many thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation—has allowed us to push the envelope in terms of the music and the arrangements, many of them feature local musicians alongside the vocalists.”
Several Beatles selections are performed close to their classic form, but others are a mix of jazz, a cappella, and gospel styles. Many of the Broadway songs spotlight composers Stephen Sondheim, Marvin Hamlisch and Stephen Schwartz; unforgettable melodies from the contemporary classics Les Miserablés and The Phantom of the Opera are also featured.
This project gratefully acknowledges it is funded in part by the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.
