JACKSON, WY—May 13, 2019.  Cathedral Voices is wrapping up its 15th Anniversary season, but not before going out with a bang. Join the singers for a free, non-ticketed performance representing some of the finest examples of choral artistry this Sunday, May 19 at 4 p.m. in The Center Theater.

The highlight of the concert is Mozart’s Coronation Mass k 317 featuring soloists, the choir, and a chamber orchestra. It’s a piece that requires stamina, precision, and absolute artistry, and Cathedral Voices has worked tirelessly this spring to bring it to life.

“To perform Mozart is a true honor for any ensemble,” says Cathedral Voices Director Laura Huckin. A quartet from the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra will perform excerpts from Mozart’s Prussian Quartet, K 575, as well.

The choir will also perform works by contemporary composers like Eric Whitacre and Eriks Esenvalds “to celebrate the vibrancy of modern music,” Huckin says. “The art of choral composing is very much alive and strong around the world, which is incredibly exciting for us.”

Cathedral Voices partnered with the Presbyterian Church of Jackson Hole Choir for this performance, and was honored to share in this experience of such incredible music. Twenty-one singers from both choirs will travel to the Salzburg Choral Festival in Austria this summer, where they will perform with 180 singers from across the United States. It is only fitting that they should sing the Coronation Mass in the Salzburg Cathedral, where the piece was first premiered in April 1779.

Don’t miss Cathedral Voices’ final performance of its 15th Anniversary season this Sunday, May 19 from 4-5:30 p.m.. The concert is free and open to audiences of all ages. No ticket required. Join the singers in the lobby following the performance for a complimentary, celebratory beverage.
