Conductor
Biography
Dr. Reed Criddle is Director of Choral Activities at Utah Valley University, where he conducts the Chamber Choir and Men’s Choir and teaches conducting and voice. In recognition of his innovative pedagogy and professional work as a composer and conductor, Utah Valley University has presented him with the School of the Arts Dean’s Award, two Faculty Senate Excellence Awards, and the Presidential Fellowship Award.
As a conductor and U.S. Fulbright Senior Scholar, he has directed ensembles, conducted research, and led workshops throughout Europe, Asia, Cuba, and the United States. Dr. Criddle has served as president of the Utah chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. UVU choirs under his direction have performed many times at the national conference of NCCO, the western division conference of ACDA, and state conferences of the ACDA and NAfME.
Dr. Criddle’s compositions have been performed worldwide by a large variety of ensembles like Musikhochschüle Lübeck Kammerchor (Germany), Beijing Queer Chorus (China), Hollywood Master Chorale (California), National University of Singapore International Festival Chorus, and Auckland Welsh Choir (New Zealand). He has recently guest-lectured at institutions such as the Hochschüle für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar (Germany), California State University (Los Angeles), Taipei University of the Arts (Taiwan), Foguangshan Buddhist College (Taiwan), and the Technical University of Kenya. His compositions and arrangements are available through Earthsongs, Hal Leonard, Santa Barbara Music Publishing, and North Star Music.
He is a graduate of Stanford University, the Eastman School of Music, and the University of Michigan.
Pianist
Biography
Stephen Thomas, pianist, has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, China, Europe, and Japan. His performances have been broadcast for Chinese television and for radio stations such as WQXR in New York City. He has recorded and performed with principal players of the San Francisco Symphony in Davies Hall and in concerts throughout the Bay Area.
Dr. Thomas frequently adjudicates piano competitions and presents master classes and lectures throughout the country and internationally. He served as President of Idaho Music Teachers Association from 2016-18 and at the national committee level for Music Teachers National Association. His students have won many competitions and awards and have been accepted into music festivals such as Aspen, Chautauqua, Brevard, and the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival. His students have also been accepted with scholarships into major music programs such as the Eastman School of Music, Indiana University, University of Southern California, University of Michigan, Northwestern University, Rice University, Arizona State University, and the Royal College of Music in London.
He holds degrees in piano performance from Brigham Young University (B.M.), Yale University (M.M.), and the University of Michigan (D.M.A.), having studied with Irene Peery-Fox, Claude Frank, Peter Frankl, and Arthur Greene. He has undertaken additional studies with Ann Schein, with Anne Øland at the Royal Danish Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark, and with the faculty of the Moscow Conservatory.
Dr. Thomas is currently Coordinator of Keyboard Studies and has served as Associate Dean in the College of Performing and Visual Arts at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Previous to this appointment, he taught for 15 years at California State University, Stanislaus where he also served as Chair of the Department of Music and as Acting Dean of the College of the Arts.
Percussionist
Biography
Percussionist Sangyoun Park maintains an active performing and teaching career in the Southern California community.
He was born in Seoul and graduated from Sunhwa Arts High School, Korea National University of Arts, and the University of Southern California. In Korea, he was a member of the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Wind Ensemble, and Seoul Percussion Ensemble. Here in California, he currently serves as principal timpanist of the Los Angeles Sinfonietta and the OC Philharmonic Orchestra. He is the owner and instructor of Fullerton Drum School and the owner and producer of Spark Video Production!
Mr. Park’s solo appearances include the National Choir of Korea, LAKMA Choir, Los Angeles Chamber Choir, and most notably, in 2021, he performed Korean composer Hyo-won Woo’s Menari with the Pacific Choir under Dr.Robert Istad at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California. In 2023, under conductor James Youngjae Kim, Hyo-won Woo’s Arirang was performed with Korean drums at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles with about 500 members of the Asian United Chorus and the Los Angeles Sinfonietta.

Chinese Lute
Biography
Jackie Ricks started learning pipa (Chinese lute) and piano at a very young age in Taipei Taiwan. Growing up, her father created lots of children’s songs for kids to sing. That was where Jackie first learned about music. Jackie graduated from Brigham Young University and has taught school in California and Utah. She also performed with the South Bay Chinese Orchestra while teaching in the Bay Area. Besides pipa, Jackie is classically trained on piano, and plays professionally. She also plays Samisen, Liuqin and Ruan.
Katelyn Cathcart, soprano
Katelyn Cathcart is a soprano who will begin her first year of graduate studies in Idaho State University’s Clinical Psychology PhD program focusing her studies on treatment process and outcome research. Katelyn graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and disability studies from the University of Wyoming in 2023. She has had continuous involvement in the University of Wyoming’s choirs, having performed in the auditioned Collegiate Chorale for the last three years.
Dakota Hansen, soprano
Dakota Hansen is a sophomore majoring in Music Education and Vocal Performance with a minor in Honors at the University of Wyoming. She studies under Professor Sabina Balsamo and sings soprano in two choirs in addition to Opera Theatre. She is passionate about growing and refining her vocal skills as well as learning how to pass on and teach future students how to not only comprehend but thrive in music.
Amanda Silva, mezzo-soprano
Amanda Silva is a Brazilian mezzo-soprano who is currently undertaking her master’s degree in Voice Performance at the University of Wyoming under the guidance of Dr. Magdalena Wór. In 2022 she graduated from the Lyric Singing Course at the São Paulo Municipal School of Music and in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Lyrical Singing from Alcantara Machado Arts College in São Paulo, Brazil. The mezzo-soprano participated in many music festivals in Brazil and Europe. She has excelled as a soloist on many stages in the state of São Paulo, and has extensive experience as a choir singer, having participated in several choirs, including the OSESP Academic Choir (São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra).
In 2023, Amanda distinguished herself as a top-five finalist in the Dorothy Jacoby Student Soloist competition at the University of Wyoming. She recently performed across France and Spain with the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, captivating audiences with solo arias from Bizet’s Carmen. Moreover, Amanda is set to showcase her talent as a featured soloist in W. A. Mozart’s Requiem in May 2024.
Joseph Gilbar, tenor
Joseph Gilbar is a tenor from Casper, Wyoming. He currently studies under Dr. Erik Erlandson for a degree in Music Education and Music Performance with a vocal emphasis. He sings in the University of Wyoming’s Collegiate Chorale, Singing Statesman, Happy Jacks, and 7220 Singers.
Jeffrey Cuevas, baritone
Jeffrey Cuevas is a baritone from Douglas, Wyoming. He is a sophomore studying for Bachelor of Music Education and Vocal Performance at the University of Wyoming, where he sings in five of six choirs and participates in Opera Theatre. He formerly studied voice under Prof. Sabina Balsamo and now under Dr. Erik Erlandson.
During his time at UW, Jeffrey was nominated to represent the voice area in the Chair’s Honors Convocation in the Spring of 2023 and 2024. He also serves as a member of the Student Advisory Council for the music department, discussing matters with faculty from a student perspective.
Dominick Singleton, bass-baritone
Dominick Singleton is a bass-baritone at the University of Wyoming pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance. He has participated in many state and regional honor choirs in Wyoming and the Northwest region of the United States in his high school years. Dominick has many years of experience in classical choral singing as well as small ensemble jazz singing.
Throughout his time at the University of Wyoming he has had the pleasure of performing in a multitude of beautiful venues during tours in Texas and Washington. Dominick looks forward to performing W.A. Mozart’s Requiem later this semester with his talented colleagues in the University of Wyoming Choirs and Symphony Orchestra.
