Cathedral Voices Launches Fundraising Campaign to go to Carnegie Hall

Accepting Donations through November 30, 2015 at http://www.cvccnyc.myevent.com

JACKSON, WY. On July 23, 2015 Distinguished Concerts International New York City (DCINY) announced their invitation to Jackson’s Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir to participate in a performance of The Music of Dan Forrest in Carnegie Hall, in New York City on January 19, 2016. Cathedral Voices launched an online Carnegie Campaign last month to raise funds to support this incredible honor – http://www.cvccnyc.myevent.com. Donations are tax-deductible and can be made via this online site through November 30, 2015.

“The Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers…”, stated Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for DCINY. He continues, “These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community…deserving of the community’s recognition and support.”

Cathedral Voices will sing with 10 other ensembles from across the United States and Canada (Mississippi, South Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, Utah, Texas, Idaho, and Calgary, Canada), creating a large 200-member chorus of voices with a full orchestra under the baton of guest conductor Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe.   “The 5-day residency in NYC will cost nearly $2,500 per singer, which is a substantial burden for some,” noted Laura Huckin, Artistic Director of Cathedral Voices. “Many of our choir members have asked their friends and family for support, but we hope the Jackson Community can help make this experience a reality.”

“We want to share this Carnegie Hall experience with the whole Jackson community,” adds Kirsten Farney, Development Coordinator for the local choir. “Our goal is to return from New York and offer a spring performance in our very own Center Theater inspired by the music of Dan Forrest and performed with the level of excellence synonymous with Carnegie Hall. To make this all possible—the New York residency, plus a performance at home on The Center stage—we need to raise $20,000; we are presently $15,000 shy of that goal.”
