2018 Spring Festival Celebrates Harmony and Community
Gala Concert and week-long events highlight local musical excellence

JACKSON, WY.  Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir’s second Spring Music Festival presented four inspiring days of performances, lectures, and open rehearsals featuring Dan Forrest, an internationally-acclaimed composer, educator, and pianist alongside half a dozen talented regional choirs and a local chamber orchestra. Over 600 attended the various events, including an extraordinary Gala Concert followed by a reception. For details of all events, visit www.cathedralvoices.org.

“We are honored by the amazing response and participation of our community,” noted Julie Birrer, Cathedral Voices Board President.  “Dan Forrest is an exceptional artist. A true visionary.” Over 100 vocalists and 25 musicians performed in the Festival’s events.  The impressive list of participating ensembles includes Jackson Hole Brass Quintet, Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra, Classical Academy Choir, Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir, Treble Voices Chamber Choir, Jackson Hole High School Choir, Voices 8, Pinedale Festival Choir, and Sisters of the Heart.

“Gathering this many musicians was no small feat,” commented Artistic Director Laura Huckin.  “It takes a lot of work and a lot of patience.  But it is worth all that energy and time, no question.”

The Festival concluded with a Gala Concert at Walk Festival Hall showcasing all the performing ensembles, with Dan Forrest on piano for a number of musical selections.  A stunning piece for orchestra and large chorus—in paradisum….—opened the second half of the concert which was attended by over 500.  The Concert concluded with a celebratory reception on the stage, catered by the Bull Moose Saloon from Alpine, Wyoming.

“People keep asking when is the next Festival,” added Huckin.  “We’re still in the planning stages, but look forward to another amazing musical moment in the spring of 2020.”

Supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, Center of Wonder/Town and County Arts for All,  the Festival’s Premier Sponsors: Bank of Jackson Hole and Teton Thai, and our Season Sponsors and many individual donations.
