Jackson Hole High School Choir Students Excel at WHSAA SW District Music Festival
Local Education Program Supports Student Singers
JACKSON, WY. On April 20 – 21st, The Wyoming High School Activities Association Southwest Music Festival took place in Cokeville, WY, where high school musicians in choir, orchestra, and band programs from a dozen schools throughout Southwest Wyoming gathered to participate in performances and clinics. These district festivals are organized to provide music students an opportunity, as individuals and members of an ensemble, to perform and be evaluated by professional music educators from around the Rocky Mountain region, providing incentive for improvement and motivation for continued participation in music programs in high school and beyond. Performers are scored on their skill, preparation, and performance, and given a single rating of 1 (Superior), 2 (Excellent), 3 (Good), 4 (Fair), or 5 (Poor). We are proud to announce that local Jackson Hole High School choir students returned from Cokeville with superior ratings!
- Kyler Arriola – superior vocal solo
- Aspen Jacquet – superior vocal solo
- Jack Eidemiller and Lucas Hakoshima – superior vocal duet
- Emma Detrick, Mila Centrella, and Rosalie Daval – superior vocal trio
Cathedral Voices’ education program, Singing in the Schools (SITS), provides advanced vocal mentoring and individual coaching to help students prepare for this statewide festival. “We feel it is important to set the standard high, and inspire students to reach their potential as musicians and individuals,” expressed Laura Huckin, Artistic Director for Cathedral Voices. “Music is a powerful tool for preparing these students for life beyond high school; we are honored to support them, year after year.”
Gina Feliccia, vocal coach and founder of Big City Broadway, is a vocal instructor for the SITS program at Jackson Hole High School and commented, “Working with high school students for this District Festival was truly a unique experience – developing their voices and being alongside students who are just as passionate about music as I am!”
