Let Spring Sing!

Local chamber choirs present two free concerts this month.

JACKSON, WY. The community is invited to two free spring concerts presented by Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir this month.  Showcasing music across genres, The Road Home features melodies inspired by native traditions this side of the Atlantic and beyond.  Highlights of the concert include a featured set performed by Slip ‘n the Jigs, a local Celtic band.  Judith Weikle, local Celtic songstress, will also take the stage.  The Cathedral Voices and Treble Voices Choirs will perform music by James Taylor and a moving Requiem written after the 2004 Asian Tsunami, rounding out this concert showcasing local talent. Performances take place Sunday, March 18th at 4pm and Thursday, March 22nd at 7:30pm.  Admission is Free; all ages welcome.  Both concerts are in the auditorium of the Jackson Hole High School.  For more information please visit
“Since the winter season began, some of the most talented voices from the local Jackson community have come together and rehearsed weekly for these concerts,” commented Cathedral Voices Board Member, Laura Goldstein. “We hope the audience enjoys what promises to be a moving and heartwarming musical experience.”
To compliment this musical journey, Cathedral Voices invited Judith Weikle (who is also a member of the choir) and Slip ‘n the Jigs to perform Irish and Celtic-inspired music.  “Given the concerts’ close proximity to Saint Patrick’s Day as well as the concert theme—a musical exploration of place, and its value in our lives—it seemed all too perfect to include Celtic music, which is so deeply rooted in place.”
The Road Home features Treble Voices, an all-women’s ensemble, performing wistful Scottish and Irish songs along with a captivating Native American melody and a lush harmony from the rural south arranged by Ruth Moody of The Wailin’ Jennys.  Cathedral Voices will sing a delicate, heartwarming song by world-renowned Eric Whitacre as well as a classic, high-energy Moses Hogan spiritual. Both choirs come together to perform James Taylor’s Shed a Little Light, sure to get toes tapping, as well as the inspiring title piece, The Road Home, by Stephen Paulus.
The program will be performed twice: Sunday, March 18 at 4pm and Thursday, March 22 at 7:30pm! For more information, be sure to visit

Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir, whose name was inspired by the majestic Cathedral Group of mountains in nearby Grand Teton National Park, is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to excellence in vocal chamber music performance and education.  Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir presents free choral music concerts several times a year and educational opportunities for aspiring vocalists of all ages. Cathedral Voices is an auditioned ensemble of 15 singers and Treble Voices is an all-women’s vocal ensemble. Both choirs explore repertoire of all genres and centuries, from the classics to the contemporary.  Singing in the Schools is Cathedral Voices’ first-ever education program, placing vocalists in the classroom to work with middle school and high school choir students.
